3 x workshop/ 2 hrs on the importance of innovation for a total of 120 pupils (9-12th grade).
This hands-on workshops sparks young students’ interest in science through fun, beginner-friendly robotics experiments. The story is set on Robo-Island—a high-tech paradise thrown into chaos by a storm—participants take on the role of rescue engineers. Their mission: build and program autonomous robots to navigate dark, hazardous tunnels by following emergency black lines and restore the island’s central AI. Along the way, students explore the fundamentals of robotics through storytelling, teamwork, and practical problem-solving.

Description of the activity
“RoboȘcoala” is a school-based innovation and technology workshop designed to engage secondary school students in hands-on robotics and 3D printing activities. The students will be introduced to concepts of engineering, electronics, and design by building fully functional robots in teams. The robot components will be printed using a 3D printer and integrated with sensors and microcontrollers (Arduino). The goal is to foster curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and interest in future STEM careers through accessible, sustainable, and replicable methods.
In alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the project promotes Responsible Consumption and Production by using recycled PLA filament (rPLA) for 3D printing, reducing plastic waste and encouraging environmentally responsible innovation. By working in small collaborative teams, students not only develop technical skills, but also strengthen soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, and project-based learning. The hands-on nature of the project helps demystify technology and makes engineering feel more approachable, especially for those who may have never interacted with robotics before.
